So the issues with jobs in the auto industry was there just wasn't enough demand for fuel efficient vehicles? This seems to indicate the vehicles already exist, there just wasn't the demand until the now. I'm not buying it.

Considering Government Motors now makes 7 out of 10 cars overseas just what jobs are they going to bring back? GM just moved another plant to China.

Wow, which one of obama's dream team wrote this propaganda? What this article did not talk about is how much all of this has cost the tax payer. It did not say how much these jobs were really costing us or how many have been lost when the companies failed or never started up. It did not say how many tax payer subsidized or guaranteed loans the energy department had put out to these wannabe companies only to see them fail. Like wind farms, battery plants, solyndra ect. It did not say that the battery cars are not selling as well as were predicted even with the $7,500 dollar rebates and that a good diesel VW or Prius will save you more money in the long run if for no other reason than the batteries are not $10,000.00 and have to be replaced and the value of the car will be about 5 percent of the cost in 5 years. All we hear from this piece of shaded, yellow alleged journalism is the company line from obama.

I'm glad that this brings people into the workforce, but I think there should be a focus on converting vehicles to natural gas, yet, if I'm correct, there is no mention of it.

The mileage mandates are geared to the inability of the auto companies to meet them and the fines they will have to pay the government when they don't. The government just keeps upping the ante.

These lost jobs occurred under and as a result of the bush/cheney debacle.
It is sad how some idiots seem to forget that.

This is quite a stretch. We juat had a story saying the automakers are very worried about the new mileage standards killing car sales.

Maybe Detroit would be in much better shape if it had.
