Big Recall For GM's Small Chevy Cruze

Forbes -- Chevrolet Cruze is a small car carrying big hopes for General Motors. But on Friday, GM said it is recalling nearly a half million Cruzes — all that it has built in North America during the past two years — to fix a problem that could result in engine fires. It’s the second time GM has recalled pretty much its entire Cruze fleet, Nick Bunkley at Automotive News points out.

The latest GM recall covers 413,418 Cruzes sold in the United States during the 2011 and 2012 model years and another 60,000 sold in Canada. All the affected cars were built at GM’s plant in Lordstown, Ohio, from the start of production in 2010 through this past May.

I'm not a big fan of GM products but it is not just GM recalling cars. Give it some time and lets see how it all pans out in the next couple of years.

The Cruze only has a problem if you spill oil when changing it. Not so much a defect in the car as trying to cure a possible defect in the user. It's hard to "idiot proof" everything. The Cruze is a great car for the money, period. I wish I could afford a new one.

Some are more serious than others but if there are many then that's a car and manufacturer to stay away from.
