Most of the money going to states is non-discretionary anyway. Part of that is social security and Medicare, which are socialist type programs, but they aren't distributed according to which state is poorer. They are distributed directly to people who live in whatever state. Both programs were created by DemocRATs. If you want to discuss who is socialist, you should talk about Obama, Congressional DemocRATs, the 99-Percenters, etc. They are the ones who pushed for redistributing the wealth from the top wage earners to the rest of the country. Obama even pushed the food stamp program to Mexican citizens which is only one reason why he will be known as the food stamp president.

(cont. from below) From the references that you provided, Calif in 2009 paid $264.9 billion in tax and received $346 billion from the feds. That means Calif got $1.31 for every dollar they gave in taxes. In fact, even NY got back $195 billion for $193.4 billion paid in tax. You also have not explained how you can possibly define any of your Red States as being either Republican or TEA Party, both of which are very anti-socialism. Many of what you called Red states are really Blue states since many of those who voted for Bush (Red) in 2004 then voted for Obama (Blue) in 2008 and 2012. Also, the Congress determines what discretionary money goes to what states. It is not determined by individual states. So besides your data being very wrong, your whole premise of your post is false as well. You need to think this stuff through before you make these claims.

I'm afraid you have not helped your case any. You still have not paid attention to anything I've written. First, you claimed you got current information from a government website. Yet I showed how your posted claim came from an outdated graphic that was based on 2004 electoral data and 2005 budget data based on analysis by the Tax Foundation, a private organization. The graphic was produced by a liberal in 2008 who wanted to make a bogus claim to help Obama's election in 2008. You then claimed you got it from The Economist, but that did not explain why your comments matched the 2004/2005 graphic. I pointed out how liberal Dem. Sen. Boxer commissioned a study that showed Calif got more money than it paid in taxes in 2008 and 2009. You then provide confirmation of how wrong you were. The most current information that any of your references provide is spending for 2009. Receipts are more up to 2012, but that does you no good without the other half of the equation regarding spending. From

Yeah, right. Like you know what the federal budget receipts and outlays are for each state. You have zero data to back up your claim. Even many of the states you claim are Red have been Blue since 2008. As I stated earlier, the source of the tax analysis that you quoted states that it is likely that today every state gets more than they pay in taxes. As for California, you can Google for other sources of this story, but Calif. got more than the taxes it paid in 2008 and 2009, years you claim you got data on from The Economist. Barbara Boxer, the study determined that California in 2008 and 2009 received more from the federal government than the state sent to Washington in the form of taxes."

If that is true about The Economist, then they cited the old bogus claim also. But your post matches exactly the graphic at the link I posted earlier. That pretty much throws doubt on your claim about your source since those numbers and Red/Bue state claims don't remain the same for 4 years.
